COMMERCIAL AIRLINES Mackinac Island is served by the Pellston, Michigan Airport located 12 miles south of Mackinaw City. Commercial air service is available daily from Northwest Airlink through Detroit Metropolitan Airport and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Air service is also available to Traverse City, Michigan, located approximately one-and-a-half hours southwest of Mackinaw City.

The Mackinac Island Airport has a 3,500 foot, lighted, paved runway, capable of handling private and charter aircraft. The airport is located just one mile from Grand Hotel. Horse-drawn taxi service from the airport to Grand Hotel and return is readily available.

Air taxi service between the Pellston Airport and Mackinac Island Airport and between St. Ignace Airport and Mackinac Island Airport is available 24 hours a day. For information call Great Lakes Air at (906)643-7165.

Mackinac Island can be accessed by automobile by driving to Mackinaw City (Lower Peninsula) or St. Ignace (Upper Peninsula). From there a ferry will take you over to Mackinac Island.
